  Dorathea Ann Daily, 96, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 9, 2017 at Creekside Village.

  Dorathea was born February 10, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Olean (Kjelstrup) Henningsen. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Louis Park High School in Minnesota and attended Balzar College in Minneapolis. She served in the US Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the WAC program.

  Dorathea was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, reading and walking her dogs. She was a member of East United Methodist Church and VFW Post #360 both in Mishawaka. At one time she was the President of the Local AARP Chapter. While living in Minnesota she belonged to Auxiliary Chapter #20 of the Women Veterans of Minnesota.

  Dorathea married Earl Daily on March 20, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sherbino; sisters, Mary Ann Kripps and Margaret Henningsen; a brother, Peter Henningsen; and a grandson, Michael.

  Dorathea’s surviving family includes a son, William (Sue) Daily of Mishawaka; a daughter, Patricia (Robert) Goeller of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Michelle Broecker, Melissa Rice, Jennifer Osborn, John Cobb, Bethany Aguirre, Bryan Goeller, Jennifer Delio and Shawn Goeller; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

  A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 28, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

  Dorathea’s family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:30 am on Saturday, October 28.
