  Georgina Mary Fitzmaurice, 103, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017 at Healthwin Specialized Care.

  Georgina was born August 3, 1914 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late James and Mary Ellen (Fitzgerald) Sherry. She grew up and lived in Canada until moving to South Bend in 1947.

  Georgina married Charles “Clare” Fitzmaurice on February 18, 1939 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two of her children, Donna Klowetter and Michael Fitzmaurice; and two brothers; and one sister.

  Georgina’s surviving family includes a daughter, Sherry (Thomas) Cripe; son-in-law, Robert Klowetter; daughter-in-law, Norma Fitzmaurice; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Dave and Frances Andrysiak and Betty and Russ Robinson.

  Georgina was a homemaker and an over 60 year member of the Cathedral of St. Matthew in South Bend. She enjoyed watching football and making crafts of all kinds.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am in the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, with her grandson, Rev. Robert Garrow officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

  A time of visitation will be Saturday from 9 – 10 am in the church prior to the Mass.

  Memorials are suggested to the Center for Hospice Care.

  Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
