  Marian “Marianne” J. Stoeckinger, 87, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 in Creekside Village.

  Marianne was born February 27, 1930 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, a daughter of Hans and Lucille Fjerstad. Her parents died when she was a young girl and she was then adopted by Mike and Wilda Tucker. She grew up in Minnesota and moved to Mishawaka in 1952.

  Marianne worked in several area hospitals and retired from Healthwin Nursing Home in South Bend. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. She enjoyed sewing and made many of her children’s clothes. Marianne loved spending time with family and friends at the family’s little cottage on the island in the middle of the river at Buchanan, Michigan.

  Marianne married Louis Wilfrid Stoeckinger in St. Joseph Catholic Church on June 5, 1955. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Burton W. Fjerstad, Sr.; Dewey S. Fjerstad; Harold P. Fjerstad, Elsie E. Delaney, Ted H. Fjerstad, Bessie L. Tvedt, Evelyn J. Anderson and Alice M. Ramthun.

  Marianne’s surviving family includes her daughters, Marianne “Mimi” (Joe) Norris of Granger, Louanne (John) Bilancio of Mishawaka; her son, Peter Stoeckinger of South Bend; three grandsons, Dominick (Brianna) Bilancio, Nathan Bilancio and Connor Bilancio; a sister, Doris Lybeck; and many nieces and nephews.

  Friends may spend time with Marianne’s family from 4 – 7 pm on Tuesday, August 8, in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, August 9, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Christopher Lapp officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Harbor Light Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
