Dale L. Cunningham

October 3, 1926 ~ February 13, 2018 (age 91)

  Dale L. Cunningham, 91, of Mishawaka passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Paul’s Retirement Community in South Bend.

  Dale was born October 3, 1926 in Bucklin, Missouri to the late Aubrey and Lucille (White) Cunningham. He grew up in Missouri and was a graduate of Callao High School. He then served his country in the US Army for two years. Dale furthered his education earning a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

  Dale married Willa Lou Wilcoxon on June 15, 1952 and the couple made Mishawaka their home.

  Dale was employed with Bendix Corporation for 25 years and later with Fargo Assembly Incorporated for over 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka where he served on the Finance Committee and Staff Parish Relations Team. Over the years, Dale was a member of the Mishawaka Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club and the Elks Club. When his children were young he served as a Scout Master. He enjoyed yard work and reading. Dale and Willa traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.

  Dale’s surviving family includes three children, David Cunningham of Boulder, Colorado, Greg (Rachel) Cunningham of Elkhart and Susan Cunningham of Tavernier, Florida; eleven grandchildren, Lindsey, Jeff, Joy, Elizabeth, Katie, Mercy, Ashkey, Victoria, Victor, Glorious and Matt.

  Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Lou; a son, William Cunningham; a granddaughter, Leah; and two brothers, Donald and Wade Cunningham.

  Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 17, in First United Methodist Church, 201 E. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Joyce Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 am Saturday in the church.

  Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.

  Arrangements are under the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
