Michael J. Wilson, 52, of Mishawaka, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family.
Mike was born December 14, 1965 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Harry and Margaret (Mooney) Wilson. He grew up in Pittsburgh and was a graduate of Seton Lasalle Catholic High School. He attended and played football at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and graduated from University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio with a Bachelor’s in Economics.
Mike married Karen M. Jones on May 24, 1992 in Elk Grove, Illinois. They moved to Mishawaka in 1993.
For 25 years, Mike owned and operated IN-DETAIL, INC., a car detailing business. He had a great passion for his work and his customers loved his attention to detail.
Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka and at one time coached soccer and basketball at St. Joseph Grade School.
Mike loved sports and was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed golfing and loved reading books while rocking in his chair.
Mike’s surviving family includes his wife of 26 years, Karen; three children, Tim, Taylor and Tanner; his father, Harry Wilson; two sisters, Cathy Wilson and Janice (John) Hill; mother-in-law, Marlene H. Jones; brother-in-law, Barry (Beth) Kingwill; sister-in-law, Kim Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Wilson; and father-in-law, Charles H. Jones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, July 28, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Christopher Lapp officiating.
Visitation is from 5 – 8 pm Friday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka.
Memorials are suggested to Karen Wilson to establish a college fund for Tanner. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
